Sometimes we need reminding that despite our flaws and shortcomings, we are beautiful still.
I created this piece as a kind of recompense for the failure I thought I saw in my recent painting, “Grit.”
Painted simultaneously, I would step away from struggle and insecurity, and return here—to the simple, forgiving form of these flowers.
In the blue hues of the vase and free abstract if it's backdrop I found the truth of my expression.
Our flaws seem to take up more space than our strengths at times. Our flaws are sometimes the defining characteristics that give our personal beauty it's organic relatable edge. We can give our flaws power in the form of defeat. Or we can give them power in the name of unique aesthetic and personal touch.
We may be flawed. But we are beautiful still.
