"Releasing Pain"

$450.00

I have been in a state of letting go. This painting started as a woman who was releasing pain. It didn’t go as planned. After hours of work, I felt disconnected from her. Ironically, I had to let go of the vision I was holding onto that wasn’t translating well to the canvas.

I spray painted over her, starting with her face. I began again in abstraction and allowed the piece to evolve naturally. I covered things I had worked hard on and layered over them until it finally felt complete. It was a process of letting go just to create this piece.

Originally, my intention was to paint something that represented releasing pain. Giving it to the soil of the earth. Letting it move into the wind and watching it fly away with the dead leaves as you enter a new season. This painting not only tells that story, but the process of creating it mirrored the journey of letting go itself.
